Applicants are not permitted to enter both Part 1 and Part 2 examinations in the same diet

Regulation 3.b.(i) states: Candidates must have written confirmation of a pass in Part 1 before they may apply to sit Part 2.

In accordance with this regulation, applicants are not permitted to enter both the Part 1 and Part 2 examinations in the same diet. Applicants cannot secure a place onto the Part 2 examination, on the basis that they may pass the Part 1. Instead applicants must demonstrate that they have already passed the Part 1.

A diet is a specific examination period. The MJDF exam has two exam diets per yer - Spring and Autumn. Candidates cannot sit both the Part 1 and Part 2 in the same diet. The exception previously granted to this regulation, except in exceptional circumstances, will no longer be available. However candidates can sit both parts in the same year i.e. Part 1 in the Spring and Part 2 in the Autumn.

Those who continue to apply for both the Part 1 and Part 2 in the same diet will still have their application processed and exam fees taken. However their Part 2 admittance will be moved over to the subsequent diet. For example, if you enter to take the Part 1 in the Spring diet, then you can only sit the Part 2 in the following Autumn diet at the earliest. Applicants may apply for a refund prior to the application closing date of that diet.
